M. L. Hill

Mackenzie is a Chicago-based historical fiction and fantasy author. Growing up an avid museum-goer, she found early inspiration in art from the early Renaissance and Baroque periods to Abstract Expressionism.

In art and literature alike, she is most drawn to through-threads of post-loss introspection as well as women's pursuit of agency through defiance and bodily autonomy through pleasure. Feminine rebellion can be both quiet and loud, and she hopes to honor both.

Mackenzie holds a B.A. in Communications and studied Art History and Creative Writing. She shares her life with her husband, Henry, and their two pets. Her favorite writers include Madeline Miller, Diana Gabaldon, Jane Austen, Emily Brontë, Charlotte Brontë, Rebecca Ross, Phillippa Gregory, Jennifer L. Armentrout, and SenLinYu.
